Maju Nusa Sdn Bhd,the fastest-growing provider of VSAT services in Malaysia, has tapped Hughes Network Systems, LLC for satellite broadband equipment. Maju Nusa will use the Hughes systems to build a cellular backhaul network for the remote regions of the Southeast Asian country.
Hughes will supply an HX System 4.0 Network Operations Center (NOC) and 130 HX broadband satellite terminals to Maju Nusa. The Hughes satellite communications systems will be used by the Malaysian VSAT service provider to enable cellular backhaul services for 2G and 3G sites in rural regions that are unable to access terrestrial communications.
The HX System 4.0 satellite broadband system debuted in 2012. Featuring low jitter/delay, real-time streaming, and other technological enhancements, it is ideal for supporting cellular backhaul applications.
Maju Nusa selected Hughes as its supplier based on the latter company’s excellent reputation in Southeast Asia. The Malaysian company have previous experience with the Hughes HX System as they had previously ordered one during the end of 2011.
Hughes has begun installing the new HX-powered cellular backhaul network in Malaysia. It expects to complete the job by April 2013.
