Now that it’s done optimizing channel development activities in North America and Europe, LightPointe Communications will turn to India next with an eye on enhancing its distribution channel.

John Taylor, vice president of sales for LightPointe, made this announcement at the Mobile Backhaul India 2012 conference on August 24. “With more than a sixth of the world’s population and a need to connect over a billion people, India represents a huge market for wireless backhaul solutions,” he said. “At the same time, India presents a challenge to most companies headquartered in the Unites States, due to import and distribution issues.”

According to Mr. Taylor, LightPointe Communications has made significant sales to India since its founding. The company could foster further sales growth by improving its partnerships with Indian distributors, resellers, and integrators.

To that end, LightPointe will devote special attention to developing its mobile backhaul distribution channel within the major Indian cities of Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Jaipur, Mumbai, Pune, and Surat. It will also offer its Free Space Optics and millimeter wave 4G/LTE radios to Indian telecom carriers and enterprises.

There are opportunities now which simply weren’t there five or ten years ago,” John Taylor said. “India’s population, of which over 50 percent is under 25, is driving the country’s thirst for cellphones and Internet access. At the same time, LightPointe’s backhaul technologies have advanced while also becoming more affordable, with wireless gigabit bridges starting at less than $10,000 MSRP.”

Mr. Taylor said that LightPointe solutions provided affordable mobile backhaul solutions without the high recurring monthly fees incurred from leased fiber-line or leased wireless hardware providers.

This confluence of increased demand, and a broader range of more affordable wireless infrastructure options, has prompted us to enhance our sales channel in India,” he said, “and we encourage experienced wireless distributors to contact us for more information.”

The last year and a half saw high demand for LightPointe Communication products. The company specializes in designing, producing, and manufacturing wireless bridge technologies. A combination of its introductory 60 GHz and 80 GHz 4G/LTE radios, improved marketing and channel partner support worldwide, and plentiful demand for its products from upgrading enterprise customers and telecom carriers accounted for recent revenue gains of 180 percent.
